Five Indian students put up a stellar show at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) and all of them brought home a gold medal. This is the first time in 21 years that all five students have brought the gold home.
Bhaskar Gupta from Mumbai, Lay Jain from Kota, Nishant Abhangi from Rajkot, Pawan Goyal from Jaipur and Siddharth Tiwary from Kolkata represented the country at the 49th IPhO this year and all of them brought home the top honour. These students participated with 396 other kids from across the world. India and China topped the medals tally with five golds each among 86 countries that participated.
The IPhO competition consists of a theoretical and an experimental examination, each of five-hour duration.
Out of 5 stdents 3 haave joined IIT Bombay on the basis of their good ranks in IIT JEE Advance Exam while ‘Lay Jain’ have planned to join MIT to syudy Physics and computer scince. Nishant Abhangi, a class XII student and the youngest among 5 is very hopeful to clear the IIT Examin coming year.
