Proud moment! ‘Team Anveshak’ of IIT Madras qualify for URC 2018!


IIT Madras is one of India’s most prestigious universities and has an excellent track record in the field of research and development.  Team Anveshak adds one more achievement in this journey by qualifying URC 2018.

Team Anveshak of IIT Madras has been placed 25th at the 12th edition of the University Rover Challenge (URC) that was held at Hanksville, Utah, USA during May 31 to June 2, 2018

They had scored 91.7/100 in the science task and their methodology and approach towards finding habitability on the Mars was appreciated by the Jury.  Their steering mechanism that enabled a high degree of maneuverability and their novel 3 DoF arm were well received.

‘About Team Anveshak’

Team Anveshak, one of the flagship teams of CFI, represents IIT Madras in the Rover Challenge Series- a highly advanced international robotics competition conducted annually for University students, by the Mars Society. Started in November 2015, Team Anveshak was built on the strength of students who had earlier participated in and won several national competitions such as Robocon (2004 – 2014), ASME (2015) and Inter IIT Tech meet (2015 and 2016), besides developing projects as a part of the iBot club.

What is University Rover Challenge (URC)?

The Mars Society, USA is an organization dedicated to promote the exploration and settlement of The Red Planet. The University Rover Challenge (URC) is a project of the Mars Society aimed at promoting space technology research & development amongst students across the world, by challenging them to build the next generation of Mars rovers.
